Save Samuels Library Political Action Committee (PAC) began as a grassroots movement in the summer of 2023 when a group of extremists attempted to ban books and defund our local library. Concerned community members came together to push back, recognizing that this was not just about books—it was about the future of free access to information in Warren County.
What started as a local effort quickly grew into an organized campaign to protect Samuels Public Library from political attacks and ensure that it remains a resource for everyone. Our mission is simple: To engage our community in the defense of education, the freedom to access information, and the right to do so without censorship or control. To support Samuels Public Library in its efforts to remain an autonomous community resource that ensures access to diverse books, programs, and services.
Many of the books targeted for removal included works by and about the LGBTQ+ community, an attack that made it clear this fight is also about defending inclusion, representation, and the right of all people—especially young readers—to see themselves in literature. We stand firmly against censorship that seeks to erase marginalized voices and limit diverse perspectives.
We continue to stand strong against censorship and government overreach, working to ensure that Samuels Library remains a pillar of our community—today and for future generations.
